Dr. Hab. Oksana Illnar-Vusyk is a physicist and mathematician (Doctor of Sciences, habilitation) specialising in computational physics and phase-transition theory, and President of the Ukrainian Science Diaspora in Austria since December 2025. Her current research applies complex systems theory to national resilience under extreme load. She co-initiated two international statements on institutional responsibility during Russia’s war against Ukraine, signed by seven Nobel laureates and nearly 10,000 researchers. She leads the Austrian-Ukrainian Programme in EU Law & Leadership – a residential initiative preparing a new generation of Ukrainian students and professionals to drive EU-aligned reforms in law, governance, and higher education on Ukraine’s path to accession. She lost her home to a rocket attack in 2022 and rebuilt her professional life across borders.
